Fabada Asturiana is a traditional bean stew originating in the Asturia region of Spain. Due to its popularity, it is now served all over Spain and enjoyed by many people around the world. Fabada Asturiana is made with large white beans called fabes. The beans are cooked until tender, then spicy chorizo is added with pork belly (alternative recipes also use pancetta for extra flavor), and finally, towards the end of cooking, blood sausage is added until hot.
Huertas has created a ready-to-eat version of this meal which comes in a handy 415g can and is sure to satisfy any craving - no matter how large - for this hearty winter bean stew.
This stew is best served with a nice tempranillo that can help enhance the gentle flavor of the bean, and compliment the strong, smokey flavors of the meat.
