This Tempranillo from Rioja is accompanied by a spattering of Garnacha Tinta and Graciano grapes. This lovely wine is aged for 12 months in American and French oak barrels. It is then further aged for another year in-bottle. The result? A wonderfully surprising wine that is easily paired with many dishes. It is, at the same time, very easy to drink on its own.
Marques de Caceres Rioja Crianza is a bold, tannic, and acidic full-bodied red that is very pleasant to drink. To the eye: it is a deep red with memories of darkish-red fruits. On the nose: a miasma of toasted wood, spices, and candied fruits are the main thought. An afternote of licorice also joins in. On the palate: A luscious red that gives thoughts of red fruits, such as raspberry, but harder notes of dark fruits, such as plums and prunes. Hints of chocolate and vanilla are also present. There is a slight sweetness to the wine that offsets the dryness just a touch, but not enough to be considered overly-cloying.
This wine is perfectly paired with beef and lamb. A good charcuterie with smoked hams and cured meats will be perfect. For cheeses, this wine is best paired with selections that are sharp and aged. If you’re looking for an unconventional food pairing for this wine, a beautiful Moroccan Chicken Tagine served with couscous is recommended. This is a lovely, savory dish that will perfectly complement the playfully delicate sweetness of Marques de Cacere Rioja Crianza.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
