The Les Jamelles Merlot is made with 100% Merlot grapes from five terroirs, macerated for two to four weeks. For extra complexity, a portion of the cuvée is matured in oak (2/3 French and 1/3 American). Thermovinification is used on a tiny fraction of the cuvée to increase fruitiness, roundness, and suppleness.
Les Jamelles Merlot has a deep ruby color, and is rich, lengthy, and round. It has ripe fruit flavors (cherry and wild strawberry), as well as clafoutis and caramel overtones. There are additional hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, and even cherry tomato. On the palate, the tannins are smooth and pleasant. This well-balanced, easy-drinking Merlot is sure to be a hit with your visitors!
It scored an 86 on Decanter, and won the Gold Medal at the 2022 Sakura Japan Women’s Wine Awards.
This red wine is best served chilled, paired with stuffed tomatoes, salt pork with lentils, steak, or chicken ratatouille. It’s also great with pissaladière (caramelized onion tart), veal paupiettes with mushrooms and cream, grilled chicken, or beef carpaccio.
