Saint-Juliene is a small wine-growing area located in the Haut-Medoc region in Bordeaux. Wines produced in this region are known to be extremely well-balanced and offer distinct fruity flavors with very subtle tannins. The Chateau Lalande Saint-Julien is no different in this regard.
The wine offers a nice, bold palate, but is not overpoweringly so. The tannins are quite smooth and mellow - barely noticeable at times, and the acidity is offset by a playful little sweetness that balances everything out. To the eye: a beautiful dark red with purple highlights greets the eye. On the nose: delicious notes of dark berries and fruits, such as plum, blackcurrants, and blackberries - are most noticeable. On the palate: the sip is fruity, forward, and quite pleasant. It has a medium-finish with noticeable blackberries and plums towards the end.
This delicious wine pairs wonderfully with lamb, beef, and, pork. It will also go quite famously with duck. Try pairing this with your next duck confit, and you’ll be extremely surprised with the results!
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
