On April 21, 2026, the second chapter of our CELLAR SESSIONS series unfolded at Terry’s Podium. Following the trail blazed by Álvaro Palacios, we welcomed a man who proves the Spanish wine renaissance is in very capable (and slightly stained) hands: Fernando Mora MW.
If Álvaro is the architect who drew the blueprints for modern Spanish wine, Fernando is the engineer pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in its most rugged, overlooked corners.
What Happened: Demystifying the Vine
Fernando is one of only 422 Masters of Wine in the world—and one of just four in Spain. But don’t let the “MW” fool you into thinking this was a stiff lecture. As a natural teacher, Fernando spent the afternoon “demystifying” the complex world of viticulture. He has a rare gift for breaking down technical secrets into stories that are approachable and easy to understand, effectively democratizing wine appreciation—a core value we hold dear at Terry’s.
He’s the kind who actually walks the talk. From his early days making wine in a bathtub to his work today at Bodegas Frontonio, Fernando keeps things grounded literally. Out in the vineyard, it starts with respect for the land: farming with intention, encouraging biodiversity, and waiting for the exact moment the grapes are ready. No rushing, no forcing—just letting nature set the pace.
Then comes the handover to the cellar, where the philosophy stays the same. Grapes are selected with care only the ones that truly make the cut and brought into old underground spaces that have been doing their quiet magic for centuries. From there, it’s less about вмешing and more about guiding nudging the fruit just enough so it can show up as its best self.
The result? Wines that feel alive, unpolished in the best way, and deeply tied to where they come from. Not overworked. Not overthought. Just honest, expressive, and a little bit rebellious.
The CELLAR SESSION:
- The Whites: We began with Botijo Blanco and Microcósmico Blanco, refreshing our perspectives on the diversity of native varietals.
- The Reds: We moved into Botijo Rojo and Microcósmico Rojo, feeling the vibrant energy of the Garnacha.
- The Icons: We finished with the complex, old-vine layers of Telescópico wines that are, frankly, the Beyoncé of the region.
What This Means For You
At Terry’s, we don’t believe in “teaching down”. We believe in sharing knowledge casually, like a secret between friends. Having a Master of Wine who actually gets his hands dirty in the vineyard reminds us that the best wines aren’t just technical achievements—they are soulful, relatable truths.
Whether you were one of the lucky few in attendance or you’re just looking for your next favorite bottle, Fernando’s visit reinforced why we champion these “Garage Rebels.” These are benchmark wines that bring the beauty of Spain’s native varietals straight to your table.
