Tomato jam is something that is not often thought of at the breakfast table. Usually, peach, strawberry, and plum (among other berries and fruits) are most popular. But tomato jam is just as delicious as these popular fruit preserves. And in some cases, it is far more versatile.
Tomato jam is sweet, but carries this air of savoriness with it. It is the perfect contraster. Try dousing your next hamburger with tomato jam and caramelized onions. The sweetness of the onions mixed with sweet / tartness of the jam will set your tastebuds ablaze.
But burgers are not the only option for tomato jam. It is great mixed in with salads, or part of your next cheese board, contrasting the rich, fatty flavors of cheese with sweetness and a slight tartness. It is also wonderful when mixed in with pastas. Perhaps your next aglio olio will feature a spoonful of this delicious preserve, contrasting the saltiness and oiliness of the pasta.
