An exquisite cuvée, the Simonsig Kaapse Vonkel Sparkling Brut Rosé has an enticing bouquet, and a fruity palate

Pinotage, Pinot Meunier, and Pinot Noir grapes are used to make Simonsig’s first-class and extraordinarily exquisite Cuvée, Kaapse Vonkel Sparkling Brut Rosé. The grapes arrive at the press house immediately after being hand-picked for careful separation and sorting. Fermentation takes place in a stainless-steel tank and in bottles at controlled temperatures. It’s then aged for a few months on fine yeast before being extracted.

The Kaapse Vonkel Sparkling Brut Rosé by Simonsig has a pale pink color, and a lively, yet delicate and durable mousse. It has an enticing first nose, with aromas of apples, pears, and blackberries. The bouquet’s fruity notes are enhanced with fruity-balsamic undertones. It’s balanced on the palate, astonishingly fresh and vibrant. The taste is followed by peach, cherry, and red apple. The structure and acidity of this very flavorful Cuvée is excellent, and makes it perfect for any special occasion.

This South African Cap wine pairs wonderfully with spring rolls loaded with minced beef, spicy chestnut soup, or red onions packed with couscous and apricots. It also pairs nicely with Chinese and Thai cuisines, as well as gently dressed seafood salads, fruit salads with red fruits and berries, Japanese sushi, crayfish thermidor, and, last but not least, a delicious dessert like seasonal fruit.

Storage Instructions

Fine sparkling wine must be handled with care. For short-term storage (a few days to a month), you can keep your bottle upright—but away from bright or artificial light. For long-term storage, especially for vintage cuvées, you must store the bottles on their side in a wine rack or cellar to keep the cork from drying out. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 10°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 1 to 3 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
