Thanks to the soil quality of the high altitudes in Argentina, Malbec is a grape that grows particularly well there, and is the main grape of choice for Argentinian wines. It is often full-bodied and fruity. The same can be said for the Phebus Malbec.
This particular Malbec from Phebus is excellent. It is full bodied, it is smooth with nice tannins, and a little sweet. There is a nice acidity to it that is both pleasant and refreshing. To the eye: Inky red with notes of purple. On the nose: cherries and licorice are most noticeable along with hints of plum and cinnamon. On the palate: bold red and dark fruits, such as berries and plums can be observed alongside a distinct spiciness.
This delicious Malbec works perfectly with lamb and grilled meats. Due to its complexity and boisterous palate, it is perfect when enjoyed on its own. It is refreshing and pleasing.
