A beautiful port produced by MESSIAS located in Mealhada, Portugal. It produces wines in the demarcated areas of Bairrada, Douro, Dão, Vinho Verde, Beiras, and Vinho do Porto. It was founded in 1962 and is known, not only for its ports, but also wines, sparkling wines, and aged brandies.
The Messias Porto Vintage has a deep red color and is pleasantly warm to behold. The nose will present tones of fig, raisin, and a whimsical hint of molasses. On the plate, you will be most surprised with the presentation of figs and dark raisins. As you roll it along your tongue, caramel and toffee afterthoughts will show themselves, resulting in a deep, long finish with tannins balanced by the smoothness and sweetness of the aging process.
This port is great as a dessert wine or a digestif to finish off the meal. For Messias Porto Vintage, try pairing it with pecan pie, chocolate truffles, cheesecake, dark chocolate cake, and even aged or smoked cheeses.
