A thin coating of cocoa powder coats the rich and creamy dark chocolate used in the La Confiteria Delaviuda Truffles. It has a strong chocolate flavor without being overpoweringly sweet. These truffles are very well-made and delicious, thanks to the use of high-quality ingredients.
La Confiteria Delaviuda’s truffles are a wonderful Christmas present for your loved ones. When you have company around, this is a nice dish to serve for dessert. Serve with a cup of fine coffee or tea.
It was in the Spanish region of Toledo that Manuel Lopez and Maria Rojas founded their tiny confectionery in 1927. Having grown up producing sweets as part of his family’s history, Don Manuel is well-versed in the business.
But tragedy happened just as the project was about to achieve success. He left behind his wife Maria, their two children, and a burgeoning family company when he died in 1939. Maria, on the other hand, remained unfazed and carried on, propelling her confections to greater and greater fame.
From “de la viuda,” which translates to “of the widow,” “Delaviuda” preserves the family history of artisan manufacture, employing ancient recipes and maintaining the same high quality that they have always maintained. To this day, La Confiteria Delaviuda’s humble beginnings and commitment to the art of confectionery making maintain it on top.
