A wonderfully well-balanced and enjoyable wine from Chateau Lilian Ladouys.

The Saint-Estèphe from Chateau Lilian Ladouys is remarkably striking. It is produced primarily with Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, but also features a smattering of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. The result is an ambitious, interesting, striking Bordeaux that is an excellent representation of wonderful wines produced in this region.

It is medium-bodied with excellent tannins. It is quite dry and acidic, but features a playful sweetness that excellently complements the aforementioned acidity and dryness. To the eye: the wine features a stunning deep red with a splash of purple noticeable in the right light. On the nose: beautiful notes of blackcurrant, black cherry, licorice, and cedar are observed. On the palate: black fruits such as the abovementioned, alongside strong notes of oak, cedar, and cassis. Tobacco and licorice are also enjoyed. It has a wonderful length to it and the tannins add extra complexity and character to the sip.

This is a fine example of an excellent Bordeaux and should be enjoyed on its own. It does pair well with beef and game, but is best enjoyed with a sharp cheese platter or charcuterie.
