Though only formally established in the 1960’s (thanks to the joining of the Rolly and Gassmann families), Rolly Gassmann has been producing fantastic, professional wines since the 17th century. With their expert know-how and understanding of wines and grapes, they are able to infuse some wonderful methods into their production, creating delicious, unique wines.
This particular wine is no exception. The Muscat grapes are ‘vendanges tardives’ meaning the grapes are allowed to remain on the vine longer and become somewhat dehydrated. The result is a sweet, flavorful, complex grape with very little water content, and all flavor. The wine itself is rich and thick - more of an elixir than a wine. It offers the perfect balance between sweetness and acidity, allowing the mastery of the winemaker to shine through. To the eye: a deep, rich golden yellow is beautiful to observe. On the nose: notes of lychee and pear are first noticed accompanied by the sweetness of honey. On the palate: rich lychee and pear notes with a beautiful herbaceousness to round out the sip. It has a long finish that is interesting and complex.
This wonderful wine serves perfectly as an aperitif or a dessert wine. Either option is viable as this wine is both sweet and refreshing, thanks to the delicious acidity it offers.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
