Rolly Gassmann Altenberg de Bergheim Gewürztraminer

Though only formally established in the 1960’s (thanks to the joining of the Rolly and Gassmann families), Rolly Gassmann has been producing fantastic, professional wines since the 17th century. With their expert know-how and understanding of wines and grapes, they are able to infuse some wonderful methods into their production, creating delicious, unique wines.

This particular Gewurztraminer is Alsace Grand Cru. It delivers a bold, sweet wine that is typical of Gewurztraminer, but with far greater depth and complexity. The acidity is soft, really allowing the sweetness of the grape to shine through. To the eye: a beautiful golden straw color is presented that seems to pick up, and grab onto, the light. On the nose: in typical Gewurztraminer fashion, notes of lychee are observed, but with a stronger bouquet of tropical fruits being presented. On the palate: the wine is rich and silky smooth, offering notes of mango and pineapple, as well as the sweetness of honey. The finish is long and lingering.

This delicious wine must be tried on its own, but will pair very well with rich foods such as foie gras.

Storage Instructions

Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
