The Domaine Gonon Vieilles Vignes Pouilly-Fuissé is as interesting as it is a pleasure to drink. The name of the wine itself Vieilles Vignes roughly translates to Old Vines, which is exactly where the grapes used in this one were picked from. Made with 100% Chardonnay grapes handpicked from 50 year-old vines, the intensity and flavor of this wine are unmatched.
Light-bodied with a nice acidity and dryness, this delicious Chardonnay is refreshing and surprising. To the eye: clear, limpid, and pale gold, this wine is a pleasure to observe. On the nose: notes of dry fruit and oak are most noticeable. On the palate: strong notes of citrus can be observed with a pleasant melding of oak and the minerality of terroir towards the finish.
This delicious Chardonnay pairs excellently with white meats, such as chicken and fish. It also pairs well with puff pastry and a variety of fresh sandwiches and salads.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
