Schloss Gobelsburg is the most prominent and oldest wine estate in the Austrian Danube river region of Kamptal. They have been creating exquisite wines since the 12th century, and are going strong till this very day. Their ‘Tradition’ wines, while part of an estate that believes in combining traditional techniques with modern winemaking practices, pay homage to the traditional techniques that have built winemaking into what it is today.
The Domæne Schloss Gobelsburg Kamptal Riesling is an exceptionally forward Riesling. It is bold, acidic, and dry - all the things one could want from a good Riesling. To the eye: a beautiful golden yellow is observed. On the nose: notes of honey, yeast, sugar, and green apple. On the palate: the sip is dry and acidic - rather pleasant and refreshing. notes of apple, mango, pineapple, and a strong minerality are observed. The wine offers a deliciously long finish that is both pleasant and expected.
This beautiful wine pairs perfectly with seafood dishes. Try this wonderful wine with sashimi. The dryness of the wine perfectly prepares the palate for the subtle nuances of the raw fish. A match made in heaven.
