Domæne Gobelsburg Kamptal Grüner Veltliner

Schloss Gobelsburg is the most prominent and oldest wine estate in the Austrian Danube river region of Kamptal. They have been creating exquisite wines since the 12th century, and are going strong till this very day. Their ‘Tradition’ wines, while part of an estate that believes in combining traditional techniques with modern winemaking practices, pay homage to the traditional techniques that have built winemaking into what it is today.

The Domæne Schloss Gobelsburg Kamptal Grüner Veltliner is a magnificent creation. It is bold, forward, and unassuming. It delivers a beautiful dryness most common with the Grüner Veltliner grape, but promotes a slight sweetness to offset this forward dryness and acidity. To the eye: this beautiful wine delivers a beautiful, golden amber color. On the nose: a spicy bouquet is observed with notes of honey, yeast, and white pepper. On the palate: delicious notes of pear, peach, white pepper, and yeast are promoted while offering a refined, long finish.

This delicious wine is pungent and pairs well with pungent dishes. You’ll be surprised to find yourself pairing this with beef and pork. Not only does it hold its own against such strongly-flavored fare, it also elevates and complements each bite.
