Hacienda Casa Del Valle Chardonnay is a rather delicious wine, hailing from the Casa de Valle winery in the Castilla region in Spain. The wine is made entirely with Chardonnay grapes which are picked at night to ensure freshness and to monitor heat damage. It is slowly fermented over several stages and then allowed to rest on its fine lees in casks of American and French oak.
The wine is surprising. While neither too bold, nor too light (as is in character for Grupo Bodegas Olarra), the wine offers a delicious plethora of fruits and spices on both the palate and the nose. It is quite dry with very little sweetness and offers a refreshing acidity. To the eye: a beautiful pale yellow greets the eye with hues of gold shining through in the right light. On the nose: a delicious citrus bouquet complemented with notes of white blossoms, honey, and walnuts. On the palate: much of the same as with the bouquet. White fruits, citrus, and a slight note of honey and blossoms. It is silky smooth but strong and pungent. It is not overpowering in anyway and offers drinkers a masterclass in balance.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
