Avelino Vegas winery was founded in the 1950’s by Avelino Vegas in the Sergovian region of Spain. The winery prefers to use grapes from that area, especially the Verdejo variety. Since then, the winemaker has consistently produced quality wines for connoisseurs around the world
The Montespino Verdejo is a playful wine with decent acidity and a slightly bitter finish. The wine itself is fresh and alive on the mouth. It is a fruity wine and can remind one of velvet. There are vegetal thoughts included in the wine, with a slight palate of bitter herbs and fruits of the exotic variety.
This would be best served with shellfish as the palate of the wine can really enhance the subtle ocean notes of the shellfish. Also consider pairing it with a cheese board with a wheel of artisan rye. If you’re feeling adventurous, a spicy chicken or sardine dish will see this wine as an excellent accompaniment to the meal.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
