One of the most adored Spanish delicacies the world has known, food historians have suggested that the first Spanish turron was made 500 years ago in the town of Jijona and earlier Arabic versions even further than that. According to documents from 1582, this delicacy was offered to workers by patrons during the Christmas season. King Felipe II loved it so much that it remarkably increased in popularity, so much so that it had spread through the trade routes of Cuba, the Caribbean and some parts of Latin America.
