The Yellow Fin Tuna is one of the most popular fish, thanks to its unique flavor and texture. The Ortiz Yellowfin Tuna (Thunnus albacares) is primarily caught off Africa’s west coast. The flesh is pinkish red in color and delicious to eat, with a robust flavor but not overpowering.
The Ortiz family, who started processing tuna in Vizcaya, in 1891, has evolved from a little canning enterprise on the Basque coast, to a name in Spanish delicacies. For more than a century, Ortiz has been producing high-quality Spanish delicacies and is known for their sustainable fishing operations and traditional ways.
Conservas Ortiz’s knowledge and experience in blending tuna and olive oil produce delicious and delicate tuna loins. The Yellowfin Tuna is prepared in a traditional manner, with olive oil in both tin and jar.
It’s great enjoyed on its own, as tapas, and in salads and sandwiches. It’s also the perfect tuna for a traditional Galician tuna empanada.
Store your tin/jar in a cool, dark, and dry pantry. Unopened, it will last up to 2 years. Once opened, consume your preserved fish/meat within one or two days and keep leftovers with the oil in a sealed container in the fridge.
