El Almendro was founded in Jijona (now known as Alicante), Spain in 1883 by Antonio Monerris Planelles. The first factory was opened in Jijona and he created his first batch of turron by 1885. The first two years were spent gaining experience and creating recipes. Over the next 100 years, the company expanded into what it is today, focusing on the purity of almonds and allowing this delicious nut to steal the show in all their creations.
These delicious treats are created utilizing the traditional turron recipe, but are elevated thanks to the salted caramel. The sweetness of the caramel contrasted with the saltiness is indeed a delicious combination. On top of this, it is presented in a stick form making it not only fun to eat, but also handy to take with you on a trip.
Enjoy these sticks as a fun dessert when out on a picnic, or perhaps as part of a gift basket. Pair these with a deep cup of black coffee. The sweetness of the turron and the intensity of the coffee will perfectly complement each other.
Store in a cool dry place. Keep in fridge after opening.
