Rosé is an interesting wine. Neither white nor red, it is able to capture subtle nuances from both sides of the fence. Rosé is made by harvesting red grapes. In the case of Grupo Bodegas Olarra’s Acantus Rosado these grapes are Merlot and Syrah (Shiraz). The grapes are crushed to release their juice and then macerated for a shorter amount of time than red wine to release a small amount of the red pigment stored in the skin to give color to the wine. The result is a wonderfully balanced, fruity Rosé that is refreshing and delicious.
To the eye: a light, enticing, and playful cherry red color with strawberry highlights. On the nose: Intense notes of fruits, such as strawberry, and red flowers, such as roses. On the palate: large notes of berries, such as cherries and strawberries with a beautiful citrus undertone that carries the sweetness of the berries to finish.
This delicious Rosé is perfect as an aperitif or paired with light starters or apps. It is also wonderfully refreshing when consumed on its own, allowing the palate to fully grasp the intricate layers of this delicious wine.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
