The Vosne-Romanee commune holds some of the most spectacular grand cru grapes in the world. The wonderful growing conditions mean it is the perfect place for the Pinot Noir grape and evidence of such can be seen in the Vosne-Romanee Le Village by Ed Delaunay wineries.
This wonderful wine leans towards the lighter side of things with interesting fruit and floral notes. It is smooth with nice, subtle tannins, soft, and a little acidic. This is all balanced by a playful sweetness that refreshes and revitalizes the palate. To the eye: a clear, light ruby red is noticed. On the nose: black and red fruits are noticed along with spices and minerals. On the palate: well-rounded tannins and the slight sweetness can be observed immediately. Notes of fresh fruit and oak are also noticed. It has a medium finish and is lovely on a hot summer’s day.
This refreshing pinot noir is perfect with smoked salmon and fresh, light chicken cooked in a light citrus sauce. The same for fish. It can do very well with pork, but make sure the sauce is not too intense lest you lose the subtle nuances of the wine.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
