This garnet-colored Bierzo red was featured in Vivino’s 2020 wine style awards for its 2013 Vintage, and rightly so! A prized wine, the Villa De Corullon G Alvaro Palacios is a result of all of the Alvaro Palacios vineyard’s fruit–all their grand cru fruit–into Villa De Corullon, after Alvaro Palacios deciding to purchase all the oldest and prestigious vineyards in the region in 1990 with Ricardo Perez.
The Villa De Corullon G Alvaro Palacios is a stunning and impressive village wine–a new category on its own in winemaking and awarding circles. Emerging from the ancient vineyards, from the steepest hillsides, this wine has deep roots and as such, deep flavor. With notes of blackcurrant and deep cherry aromas, it is braced with zesty minerality and gains sweetness with the air.
Because of its powerful intensity, this wine pairs amazingly well with charcuterie boards, full of strong, ripe washed rind cheeses, like a Munster, Tallegio, Herves or Limburger, among many others. This also goes well with a variety of meats, such as deer or venison, lamb or poultry.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
