While Andalusia is most famous for Sherry, there are many winemakers who chose to make Andalusia their home - especially for growers of Shiraz. This grape grows best in warm, dry climates, and Andalusia is most famous for this. Offering a warm, temperate climate with mild winters, Shiraz grows perfectly here. This can be observed by the excellence of Tesalia’s Iceni. This wonderful wine is predominantly Syrah (Shiraz) but features a smattering of Tintilla de Rota, Andalusia’s famous blue grape grown in vineyards of this epic sherry region.
The Iceni itself is simply marvelous. Not to be outdone by Tesalia’s other interesting wines (Arx and TESALIA), this delicious wine is extremely well balanced on the palate - not too strong, not too soft. It is full bodied, tannic, and a little sweet. To the eye: deep cherry notes - lively and intricate. On the nose: deep notes of red fruit, red licorice, and a nice, slight balsamic afterthought. On the palate: red fruits give way to darker notes, such as blueberry and plum. Thoughts of herbs and spices, such as toast and tobacco are also noticed.
This amazing wine certainly holds its own against Tesalia’s imaginative offerings. Note: this wine should be allowed to breathe for a considerable amount of time. It will actually do well from a couple more years of aging in bottle
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
