S de Siran Margaux from Chateau Siran is a pleasing and delicious wine that is easy to pair with many dishes. Created from predominantly Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes (with a bit of Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc thrown in for good measure), this delicious wine is a hit at all dinner parties.
Being bold and dry, the wine sits a little heavier with tannins and is quite acidic. But, when the end of the draw hits, a wonderful fruitiness - a sweetness - kicks in and finishes the sip off with a delicious and refreshing balance. To the eye: this wine is a dark ruby red with purple tones that shine through in the right light. On the nose: thoughts of black berries, cherry, vanilla, and black plum are noticed. On the palate: notes of chocolate and bitter slate shine through in the top end. This is finished with a beautiful and surprising cherry flavor that helps add fruitiness and balance tannins.
This beautiful wine is best paired with beef, lamb, game, and poultry. A wonderful pairing for this wine would most definitely be civet de lapin - a hearty winter dish from France that uses rabbit, red wine, bacon, mushrooms, butter, flour, carrots, onions, garlic and the blood of the rabbit. The rabbit’s blood is used to thicken the wonderfully flavorful dish. This is best served with a rich wine, one such as Château Siran - S de Siran Margaux.
