Rupert and Rothschild Vignerons Classique is a beautiful rendition utilizing Cabernet Sauvignon - a grape that grows quite easily in the vineyards of South Africa. The wine is aged for 16 months in French oak barrels and has the potential to be aged in bottle for 7 years more.
The Rupert and Rothschild Vignerons Classique is extremely well-balanced. The wine is quite bold and promotes medium tannins. The dryness and acidity of the wine is balanced with the slightest sweetness, promoting a wonderfully rounded drinking experience. To the eye: deep ruby reds are observed with a splash of purple in the right light. On the nose: deep notes of cherry, plums, and oak are most evident in the bouquet. On the palate: dark and red fruits, such as plum and berries, are noted with pencil shavings, spices, and oak at the back end. It has a medium finish which will develop more as the wine ages in bottle.
This beautiful wine should be allowed to age in-bottle for a few more years, but is still a wonderful experience. It is best paired with large flavors, like grilled meats and hearty stews.
