Puilleraia Toscana Merlot Geografico

Geografico has created a rather unique wine. While one of the more popular wines in the region is Chianti, it is a little rare to see wines hailing from this region being produced with Merlot grapes. Yet, what Geografico has produced with their Pulleraia Toscana Merlot is quite interesting.

The wine, like Chianti, is neither too bold, nor too light. It finds the perfect middle-ground of being ‘just right’. It is smooth and flavorful. The tannins are a bit short, unlike Chianti, but the acidity is quite refreshing and well-balanced thanks to the playful sweetness present in the wine. To the eye: delicious ruby reds are most noticeable; a pleasure to behold. On the nose: notes of red fruits and spices, such as red plum and cherry along with a spattering of berries. On the palate: the wine offers a medium-finish with soft tannins. Delicious notes of sour cherry and oak are mixed with the slight sweetness of red berries.

This delicious wine works best with lighter dishes. It is quite refreshing and could go well with a nice puttanesca or a simple cheese plate with delicate cheeses present.

Storage Instructions

Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
