Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse Pauillac

The Prélude à Grand-Puy Ducasse Pauillac from Chateau Grand-Puy Ducasse is a rather interesting wine… in a good way. It conforms to the standards of what a good Pauillac wine should be, but takes it further by combining the best of Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot. The result is a fruity wine that finds itself complemented - and at odds at the same time - with the tannins offered by the wine.

It is medium-bodied, offering strong, fruity notes. These notes become an afterthought as the intense, full-bodied, mature tannins take over. To the eye: the wine offers beautifully deep, intense reds with a spattering of purples in the right light. On the nose: delicious blackcurrant, plums, and black cherries can be noticed with a hint of tobacco, oak, and other beautiful spices. On the palate: the wine is smooth and succulent, offering delicious fruity flavors which are then forgotten as the mature tannins kick in and deliver a medium finish that is all character and flavor.

This delicious wine would do well with considerable time to breathe to really allow the tannins to open up. Pair with beef and game, or a sharp, pungent cheese board.

Storage Instructions

Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
