This beautiful Syrah is another feather in the cap of the world-class Pagos del Moncayo winery. This wine is aged for 10 months in American and French oak barrels, and like the other wines in the collection, this Syrah is produced with the same stringent standards as set by their adherence to traditional and artisanal winemaking practices.
This wine is full bodied with a deep bold flavor. It is tannic and veers a little to the dry side, but is expertly balanced by a slight sweetness. It has a nice acidity and is very refreshing. To the eye: deep tones of cherry with violet ribbons in the right light. On the nose: notes of wild fruits and violets, cassis, plum jam, black currants and blackberries, black olives, and truffles massage the senses with complexity and multifacetedness. On the palate: Notes of dark and red fruits and berries are noticeable. Towards the end of the finish, woody and earthy tones are also observed.
This is an excellent wine to pair with heavy meat dishes. However, this wine will perfectly complement the hearty and flavor-packed Fabada Asturiana.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
