The Bodegas Olarra Otoñal Tinto DOCa Rioja is a very decent wine. It has great characteristics thanks to the Tempranillo grape used in production, paired with the expert wine making techniques utilized by Grupo Bodegas Olarra winemakers. This wine is indeed a very good representation of a decent Rioja table wine.
The wine itself is remarkably well balanced. Offering a nice long finish on the palate, it is neither too bold, nor too light. It has a slight sweetness that helps counteract the acidity and mellow tannins. To the eye: beautiful cherry-red with decent violet notes. On the nose: mellow and fruity, one will be greeted with red fruits and spices. On the palate: silky smooth on both the front and back end of the sip. Stong notes of cherry and plum, with hints of cinnamon.
This wine is a great tapas wine. It is pleasing, but not heavy and filling. It is perfect when paired with meat boards and cheese plates. It works extremely well with a good mahon cheese. It is also a pleasure to sip on its own.
