Various orientations inside the Nekeas Valley contribute to the richness of the Nekeas La Fuente Crianza. Little vigorous strains and modest production yield grapes that mature slowly but adequately. They are macerated for an average of 25 days, and go through malolactic fermentation in stainless steel tanks. They are aged in French oak casks for 12 to 14 months, and in bottle for at least a year.
The La Fuente Crianza by Nekeas is made with Tempranillo and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, and has a distinctive ruby color with purple undertones. Blackcurrant, blackberry, liquorice, and roasted smells and flavors are framed by well-integrated tannins in this well-balanced red. It’s long and succulent, with a round and wonderful finish.
Pair with grilled red and/or fatty meats, as well as well-seasoned vegetables. It’s fantastic with gelatinous food, like Madrid-style tripe, pig’s ear, and lamb trotters.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
