The Nekeas Cepa Por Cepa is a younger, fruitier expression of Spain’s most Atlantic Garnacha, originating from incredibly old Garnacha vines. It’s made with 100% Garnacha grapes, macerated for a total of 15 days, and underwent malolactic fermentation.
The Cepa por Cepa is a Grenache with all the attributes that have pushed the varietal to popularity, scoring a 92 on James Suckling.
It’s a light, fruity red wine with scents of wild strawberries, and spices like black pepper. At the same time delicate and passionate, sensual and approachable. Its tannins appear to be non-existent, but they transfer the wine’s full structure from the background. The little time in the barrel simply chisels the fruit, leaving the more natural flowery and fruity aromas unaffected. It has a bright and lively aftertaste.
A truly good Garnacha, the Cepa Por Cepa by Nekeas is one that goes great with hearty meats, like Iberico Secreto, sirloin steak, or roast lamb.
