The FLO Rosso Verona by Monte Faustino is an unusual wine. It is an attempt by the winemaker to marry two very distinct and fiercely independent grapes together - Sangiovese and Corvina. Sangiovese is a little lighter compared to Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon, but carries a distinct fruitiness with it. Similar flavors can be detected with Corvina, such as sour cherry, but the fruitiness of the grape leans more towards the sweet end, balancing the mouth-puckering dryness of Sangiovese with a playful sweetness and softness.
It is quite a bold wine with delicious flavors quite noticeable. It has nice, rounded tannins, and offers a nice refreshing sweetness to balance the dryness of the wine. To the eye: it presents a mesmerizingly deep ruby red. On the nose: notes of dark and red fruits, such as berries and cherries can be noticed. On the palate: Intense spices and red, sour cherries are first noticed coupled with other fruity notes such as strawberry, plums, and other delicious red fruits.
This delicious wine pairs perfectly with red, grilled meats and heavy sauces. The intensity of the wine deserves and intense meal to be partnered with.
