The Dolcetto grape is an interesting grape that is predominantly cultivated in the Piedmont region in Italy’s northwest. The wines created from this grape are nearly always found to be deep ruby and purple to the eye, which is the same for Gigi Rosso’s Dolcetto d’Alba.
This delicious wine is very fine. It is neither too bold, nor too light. It has personality, soft, mellow tannins, and is quite dry. It is rather refreshing and persistent. To the eye: beautiful notes of ruby red with purple splashed in for good fun, are noticed. On the nose: notes of flowers and red fruits are noticeable - plum, apple, raspberries. On the palate: notes of black cherry and grapes can be observed with mellow tannins and a delicious dryness.
This wine is perfect when served as an aperitif or accompanying appetizers and first courses. It is also perfect to sip on its own, as it is rather refreshing and flavorful.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
