Argentina is known around the world for the wine produced in its beautiful hills. The country boasts a climate that is excellent for producing Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec grapes due to the warm and dry weather that these grapes are known to thrive in. Not only are the grapes in their element, but the winemakers have years and years of experience from experimentation and tradition. Finally, wine is a major part of Argentinian culture and a poor wine is insulting for many people. The standard for fine wine is high and the winemakers must meet this demand.
The Flechas de Los Andes Gran Malbec meets and exceeds these expectations. Made with Malbec grapes handpicked and sorted from the fields in Uco Valley (about 120 kms from Mendoza City in Argentina), these beautiful grapes are fermented and aged to create a wine that is bold in flavor and boasts very smooth tannins. It is very balanced between sweetness and acidity, meaning there is quite an acidic kick to wine, but is balanced nicely with a subtle sweetness. To the eye: deep dark red with hints of violet. On the nose: The nose is quite closed but suggests notes of dark fruit, figs, and spices. On the palate: black fruits such as blackberries and plum are noticed. Faint thoughts of chocolate and vanilla can also be tasted.
This beautiful wine does well from a long breathing period. Open the wine up and let it breathe for an hour or so before consuming. It works just as well by itself as it does paired with grilled meats or flavorful salads.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
