Founded in the early 1990’s and infusing traditional, french wine techniques with the amazing wine potential found in Argentina, multi-award winning winery Fabre Montmayou, is consistent in the production of world-class, and well-loved wines.
This interesting cab sav is a dry, well-balanced wine with a strong boldness, and tannic aftertastes. The tannin is offset by the smokiness of the oak barrels it was aged in. It is playful on the nose, with hits of vanilla oak and red fruit. The palate is no different. Blackberries and raspberries are the first to come through. Afterthoughts of mint and spices come through towards the end. The color is a breathtaking ruby-red with a wistful glimmer of violet that shines through in the right light.
This beautiful cab sav is best paired with red meat, game, strong cheeses, and chocolate. A great dish to pair this with is matambre arrolado. This dish, popularized by Argentinian cattle ranchers will see a side of beef butterflied, filled with different earthy vegetables and hard-boiled eggs, and then grilled. The strong earthiness of the vegetables complement the flavor of the beed. The Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon will not only complement these flavors, it will enhance this dining experience.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
