The Dominio de Punctum Lobetia Tempranillo is an interesting wine from Dominio de Punctum. Produced in La Mancha, Spain, this winery prides themself on creating excellent organic and biodynamic wines. The same, of course, applies to this tempranillo.
It is a bold flavored wine that has excellent tannins balanced perfectly with a little softness to the palate - just enough to take off the edge, but not reducing the tannic experience. It is a dry-ish wine with a little sweetness that shines through, and the acidity is perfectly balanced with softness. To the eye: a beautiful ruby red can be viewed. On the nose: Notes of red fruits, red berries, and vanilla. On the palate: A medium-bodied wine with a light finish. Notes of blackberries, vanilla, red cherry, and raspberry are noticed. All in all, it is a very light wine that packs a punch at the start.
This is paired well with game, beef, lamb, and chicken. If you’d like to venture outside of the box, this pairs very well with spicy Spanish mussels. The lightness of the wine will perfectly complement the subtle flavor of the mussels and complement the sauce fantastically.
Store unopened red wines in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 16 to 18°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
