The Comte De Tassin Bordeaux is a well-rounded wine. It strikes a good balance between tannins and acidity thanks to the Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc grapes used in its creation. It is aged for 6 months in tanks before being transferred to American oak barrels for another 6 months. This wine needs to breathe before consumption, so allow it to open up for at least 30 minutes before drinking.
This is a bold, medium bodied wine that promotes a medium finish. It is very dry and offers good acidity. It is quite refreshing and light on the palate. To the eye: a deep garnet red greets the eye with slight splashes of violet in the right light. On the nose: notes of red and black fruits with a strong cherry emphasis are noticeable. Afterthoughts of toasted nuts and oak waft through towards the end of the bouquet. On the palate: strong notes of red and dark fruits are noticeable with hints of licorice and oak, thanks to the American oak barrels used in aging.
This wine works well as a table wine. It is easy to drink on its own, but pairs excellently with veal and poultry. It also works well with light cheeses and cuts through the richness very well, thanks to its acidity.
