This wine is more of a work of art than a beverage one would most happily consume. It is taken most seriously by the winemakers. So much so that every aspect of the production process is painstakingly doted over. Never have grapes felt so much love and attention. This wine is an amalgamation of Shiraz, Mourvedre, Cinsault, and Grenache. The result is a delicious Southern Rhône Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red loved and sought after by many around the world.
It is an exceptionally bold wine with a rather long finish. It is quite dry, but in a way that refreshes the palate due to the wonderful acidity and tannins. To the eye: it presents a deep red with splashes of purple in the right light. On the nose: beautiful red fruits and stimulating spices entice and tease the senses. On the palate: delicious red cherry, teetering on the knife’s-edge of darkness, is most noticeable on the senses. Notes of licorice, oak, and cinnamon are also observed.
This delicious wine is, of course, best paired with rather bold dishes. Grilled meats, hearty stews, and of course, coq au vin. But a wine this fine is best enjoyed on its own. It is complex and interesting.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
