Geografico Chianti is one of those rare wines that, on first sip, will literally take your breath away. It is a blend of Sangiovese and Canaiolo, in order to keep with the Chianti tradition. Sangiovese, translated as ‘the blood of Jupiter’, is medium-bodied with high acidity and high tannins. The Canaiolo is, of course, a much needed grape for Chianti, but is also present to soften the otherwise unbearable tannins and acidity of Sangiovese.
To the eye: an appealing dark red with purple hues splashed throughout. On the nose: a complex bouquet of roots, light red fruits, and spices. On the palate: notes of plum, cherry, and liquorice are observed. The spiciness observed in the bouquet is also present. It has a long, dry finish. Very refreshing.
Due to the high acidity of Chianti, it pairs very well with tomato sauces, pizza, and pasta. For simplicity, try making a delicious puttanesca and pairing this wine with it. It will most definitely elevate the dining experience.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
