Chianti, for the most part, is made with the wonderful Sangiovese grape. This is the same for Geografico’s Chianti Classico. Chianti’s are usually found to be very dry, medium-bodied, and have strong tannins and acidity. They are also quite fruity and are very refreshing on the palate.
The Geografico Chianti Classico is a wonderful wine. It is medium-bodied and is not so bold. The tannins and acidity, while strong, are rather well-balanced, meaning neither are too in-your-face when drinking this wine. To the eye: nice reds with hints of purple in the right light. On the nose: delicious red fruits, such as plums and raspberries are most noticeable with a hint of oak. On the palate: dry, refreshing, and medium-bodied. This wine has quite a long finish.
This delicious wine will pair perfectly with sharp, strong cheeses, such as parmesan. It also pairs perfectly with rich pastas, such as Bolognese or rich, flavorful meatballs.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
