The Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is a delicious red wine. It is usually created using a variety of grapes, including Sangiovese. In the case of Geografico’s Cerraia, the grape varieties used are Merlot, Colorino del Valdarno, Prugnolo Gentile, and Canaiolo Blanco. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano is often confused with the wonderful Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, a red wine made from the Montepulciano grape itself and is usually found in Central Italy.
The Geografico Cerraia is an interesting wine. Keeping in style with Geografico’s wine making traditions, the wine is neither too bold, nor too light. In fact, it is just right. It shows delicious fruity flavors and young, intense tannins. The wine is quite dry as well, with a slight sweetness to ever so slightly refresh the palate. It is creamy, smooth, and indicative of liquid velvet.
This delicious wine pairs perfectly with light, red and rose sauces. It is also a wonderfully refreshing salad wine and pairs just as well with pork as it does with chicken. Try pairing this with your next cheese board.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
