Bohórquez Reserva, a beautiful wine from Ribera del Duero exemplifies everything this wonderful region stands for. This region is DOP (Denominación de Origen Protegida) and is most known for its Tinto Fino that is often blended with other Bordeaux grapes, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Malbec. This beautiful Reserva is no exception as it blends Tempranillo (Tinto Fino), Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. The result is an expressive, full bodied wine that shows consumers the meaning of contrast.
While having a nice acidity and full, round tannins, the wine offsets this with a nice balance of sweetness that tantalizes the palate. To the eye: a dark red wine with hints of brown and brick in certain lights. On the nose: a strong bouquet of dark and red fruits, with a little tobacco thrown in for good measure. On the palate: immediately, one’s palate is hit with notes of tobacco and vanilla. Hints of red and black fruits are also evident. To finish, the palate enjoys a deep oaky flavor.
This wine is best enjoyed with a wonderful cheese and cold cuts platter. Match with Manchego and Mahon with some wonderful Serrano to go with it. Iberico matches very well. This wine is also enjoyed on its lonesome, while enjoying a cool evening breeze.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
