The Añares can be summed up in one word - mellow. This wonderfully playful wine is neither assuming, nor pretentious. It has an excellent balance to it with complicated tasting notes. It is produced using Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, and Mazuelo varietals.
It is a rather well-balanced wine, not too bold, and not too light. It finds its place in the middle ground. It offers the right balance of sweetness versus acidity and mellow tannins. To the eye: a deep ruby red is presented with slight hues of purple. On the nose: fruit forward with hints of spices. On the palate: red fruits, balsamic, cinnamon, and cloves are noticed. It has a long, enjoyable finish.
This delicious, understated wine pairs well with a good, sharp cheese and/or meat board. It is perfect for sharp tapas with bold flavors and isn’t so heavy to fill you up before the meal in earnest.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
