Macan is a beautiful example of a great, complex La Rioja wine. It is created exclusively with Tempranillo and is bold, complex, and has many layers of characteristics. Macan was envisioned by two wonderful wineries in the hopes of marrying traditional Bordeaux winemaking methods with the excellence that La Rioja is known to offer. The result is a beautiful wine that should be part of every serious wine drinker’s collection.
The wine is medium-bodied, with beautiful, intricate tannins. It is dry and acidic but offers a slight, playful sweetness to complement the aforementioned characteristics. To the eye: the wine offers a beautiful, deep red that is comforting and relaxing. On the nose: delicious notes of blueberry, blackcurrant, and tobacco are observed. On the palate: licorice notes paired with black fruits, such as plum and blackcurrant are enjoyed. It has a long, complex finish that is accentuated by the beautiful tannins.
This delicious wine should be allowed to breathe for a considerable amount of time before drinking to really allow it to open up. It is also perfectly placed for a few years of extra aging in-bottle.
Store your unopened bottle in a cool, dry, and dark place safe from constant vibration. Keep your bottle horizontal in a wine rack or cellar to retain the moistness of the cork. The ideal temperature for storage is between 7 to 15°C. Once opened, a bottle will be good for 3 to 5 days standing upright in the refrigerator.
