Tomato jam is one of those things that many people know about, but few actually use in their kitchen. This is not your typical jam in the sense that it works well on toast with copious amounts of butter ala Paddington Bear. This jam has a savory aspect to it that, thanks to the natural glutamic acid found in tomatoes which acts as a natural flavor enhancer.
Tomato jam works well with pretty much anything grilled cheese. The natural marriage of cheese and tomato is indeed a match made in heaven. Tomato jam works well on burgers and pizza as well. It is sweet, savory, and has a distinct umami to it that helps to really contrast the saltiness of these pairings. It also works well in pasta (think aglio olio with a dollop of tomato jam) as well as salads. We do not recommend using this in fried rice.
Store your tin/jar in a cool, dark, and dry pantry. Store in fridge once opened.
