Marqués del Real Tesoro Amontillado del Principe

The Amontillado del Principe from Marques del Real Tesoro is a focused, expressive, and exquisite amontillado. The ‘must,’ or grape juice, comes from Palomino Fino grapes from their vineyard in Jerez’s renowned Macharnudo district, and is fermented in stainless steel before being matured for more than eight years. Further aging, which allows for oxidation, is allowed for at least another eight years before bottling. The Sherry Council ensures that the wine is at least 15 years old on average.

On the nose it is highly complex, with nutty notes of hazelnuts and walnuts unmistakable. It’s powerful on the palate, with a smooth flow through the mouth and a dry, polished finish.

The Marqués del Real Tesoro winery dates back to 1897, when the grandson of the first marquis purchased his first soleras from the Count of Villacreces, who owned over 200-year-old soleras. Due to the superb Jerez wines produced in these historic soleras, the company began to expand, eventually becoming suppliers to the Royal Household. The winery was purchased by the José Estévez Group in 1982, making it part of one of the country’s most notable winemaking organizations.

It’s a delicious aperitif that pairs well with meat and game dishes. It’s best to serve it slightly chilled.

Storage Instructions

Store unopened bottles horizontally in a cool, dark place, ideally between 12 to 15C. Once opened, store the bottle upright in the refrigerator. Opened bottles can be stored from 4 to 6 weeks
