Nakoa has been creating chocolates and sweet delicacies for over 100 years. Founded in 1858, Nakoa follows the same traditions and methods to create delicious sweets now as they did over a century ago. They believe that all good things take time.
Nakoa has taken a traditional method of storing cherries and adapted them to meet the discerning palates of modern-day confectioners. Traditionally, refrigeration was an issue for many, especially when it came to the storage of fresh cherries, which don’t do very well in the heat. So, in order to preserve the delicious fruits, they were stored in clay jars with strong spirits in order to keep their integrity for long periods of time. In modern times, this practice still remains, but rather than using strong spirits, the cherries are soaked in Maraschino liqueur before being coated in delicious milk chocolate.
Nakoa’s maraschino cherries dipped in chocolate are a wonderful treat. Enjoy them with a nice strong cup of coffee (black, so the richness and sweetness will be offset by the acidity and forwardness of the coffee).
Store in a cool dry place.
