Txakoli is a dry white wine with high acidity and low alcohol level made in Spain’s Basque Country, Cantabria, and northern Burgos.
The Txomin Etxaniz Txakoli is made with Hondarribi Zuri grapes from Getaria, a coastal village in the Basque Country. The harvest, which is done by hand in 20kg boxes, occurs in late September or early October. This white wine is vinified in steel tanks at a controlled temperature, and pneumatic pressing is done in an inert environment. It is fermented at a controlled temperature, and held on the lees until bottling.
The Txakoli by Bodega Txomin Etxaniz is a greenish-yellow color with beautiful natural bubbles. It exudes fresh apple and citrus aromas, mingled with mineral notes on the nose. It’s slightly acidic, with an ABV of 11%, and is refreshing on the palate.
The Txomin Etxaniz Txakoli is great to enjoy with appetizers. It pairs well with white meat, as well as fish, shellfish, and other seafood. Try it with anchovies, or tuna in olive oil.
Store your unopened bottle upright in a cool, dark place, ideally between 0 and 12°C. Refrigeration is not necessary, but since cream liqueurs are generally consumed cold, the fridge makes for ideal storage. Unopened bottles of cream liqueur have a shelf life of 2 years. Once opened, the bottle should be consumed within six to twelve months.
